About The Position

A Career Center Navigator in Workforce Development provides support to job seekers by managing and maintaining the resource room, equipping clients with the tools, guidance, and resources needed to achieve their employment goals. This role involves assisting clients with job search activities, resume building, application processes, and access to computers and other technology. The specialist offers personalized job search assistance, facilitates workshops, and connects clients with relevant services and programs to enhance their career readiness. Additionally, they ensure a welcoming, well-organized environment, maintain up-to-date information on employment resources, and track client progress and resource utilization.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED certificate.
Experience using a variety of computer software programs.
Knowledge of and the ability to learn a variety of relevant computer software programs, computer and other office equipment, and the Internet.
Interact with customers in a positive and productive manner.
Ability to organize work requirements.
Excellent communications/presentation and writing skills.
Must possess and provide a valid Texas Driver's License and Automobile Liability Insurance as required by the State of Texas.
Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within service area.

Responsibilities

Manage and maintain the resource room, equipping clients with the tools, guidance, and resources needed to achieve their employment goals.
Assist clients with job search activities, resume building, and application processes.
Provide access to computers and other technology for clients.
Offer personalized job search assistance.
Facilitate workshops.
Connect clients with relevant services and programs to enhance their career readiness.
Ensure a welcoming, well-organized environment.
Maintain up-to-date information on employment resources.
Track client progress and resource utilization.
Assist customers in navigating computer-based information sources such as America’s Job Bank, Work in Texas, and My Texas Careers.
Assists customers with preparation of resumes and applications.
Explains to customer varieties of software programs available for their use.
Monitors computers and printers to insure they are in good working order.
Performs limited troubleshooting of personal computers and submits request for in-depth maintenance when required.
Operates and monitors use of fax, copier and phone bank.
Obtains and maintains occupational and Labor market information.
Make career/job information available through computer and printed material.
Maintains information on self-assessment, career planning, occupations, employment opportunities, job market conditions, and other relevant trends.
Keeps an accurate usage record for Resource Room on a daily basis.
Performs data entry for various reports.
Assists in maintaining inventory of available Resource Room materials.
Responsible for the custody, care, and safekeeping of agency property and exercises control over expendable supplies.
Delivers Orientation(s) for job seekers outreached via Unemployment Insurance (UI) Profiling.
Conducts phone calls to job seekers appearing on UI and Dislocated Worker (DW) reports.
Assists with Curbside services and Virtual Lab services, if available.
Manages VOS and Work in Texas System.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Complete assigned tasks within the defined scope, schedule, and quality parameters.
Maintain a high standard of quality in deliverables, aligning with project requirements.
Identify issues early and work on solutions, collaborating with other team members when necessary.
Keep the manager informed of progress, potential delays, and issues that may impact the project.
Engage effectively with other team members, contributing to a cohesive team environment.
Bring individual expertise to the project and support the skill development of others through knowledge-sharing.
Proactively identify and communicate potential risks or issues.
Actively engage in risk response planning and support measures to prevent or reduce risk impact.
Work within the constraints of the project schedule to meet deadlines.
Adhere to established procedures, methodologies, and standards defined in the project plan.
Participate in retrospectives and document any lessons learned to contribute to future projects.
Offer constructive feedback on project processes, suggesting improvements to optimize project efficiency.
Utilize allocated resources effectively to avoid wastage.
Be mindful of project costs and work to complete tasks within budget constraints.
Accept responsibility for assigned work and deliverables, ensuring they align with project objectives.
Uphold professional and ethical standards in line with TWC guidelines and organizational policies.
