About The Position

The Career and Employment Advisor position exists to support student career development, career readiness, and workforce transition outcomes by providing comprehensive career advising, employment coaching, career education, and employer engagement services to prospective students, current students, alumni, and community members. The position integrates career development practices, labor market information, career assessment tools, and employment strategies to assist individuals in exploring career pathways, developing professional skills, and achieving educational and employment goals. The role also supports institutional workforce development initiatives through employer partnerships, career programming, student engagement activities, and cross-functional collaboration designed to strengthen career readiness, experiential learning opportunities, and employment outcomes across diverse student populations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Communication, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in career advising, workforce development, recruiting, employment services, or student support services.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in career advising, workforce development, recruiting, employment services, higher education, or related student/workforce support environments.
  • Experience working with diverse student and community populations, including individuals from varied educational, socioeconomic, cultural, and career backgrounds.
  • Ability to obtain Career Development Facilitator (CDF) certification or other relevant career development, coaching, or workforce readiness credential within one (1) year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide career and employment advising through individual coaching, group sessions, and career planning support for prospective students, current students, alumni, and community members
  • Administer and interpret career assessments, personality inventories, and career exploration tools to support informed educational and employment decision-making
  • Maintain career services resources, employment information, labor market tools, and career technology platforms to support student engagement and service delivery
  • Maintain student records, employment outcomes, case documentation, and program information to support reporting, assessment, and compliance requirements
  • Deliver career readiness workshops, presentations, and employment programming focused on job search strategies, professional skills, resumes, interviewing, and workforce preparation
  • Build supportive relationships with students, employers, faculty, staff, and community partners to strengthen career engagement and employment connections
  • Serve as a liaison between students and employers to support internships, recruitment activities, networking opportunities, and employment outcomes
  • Respond to career-related inquiries and provide guidance, referrals, and employment resources to support student and community member success
  • Assess student career interests, employment readiness, and educational goals to recommend appropriate career pathways, resources, and support strategies
  • Interpret career assessment results, labor market information, and workforce trends to support informed advising and employment planning
  • Analyze employment outcomes, participation trends, and program outcomes to support continuous improvement and service effectiveness
  • Apply professional judgment to prioritize student needs, recommend interventions, and address barriers impacting career and employment success
  • Coordinate career-related events, employer engagement activities, job fairs, workshops, and networking opportunities to support student workforce development
  • Manage outreach, communication, and implementation activities related to career programming and campus engagement initiatives
  • Coordinate employer recruitment activities, partnership engagement, and follow-up communication to support workforce connections and placement opportunities
  • Support planning, tracking, and execution of departmental initiatives, reporting timelines, and career services projects
  • Participate in cross-functional committees, institutional initiatives, and collaborative student success efforts across the college
  • Support continuous improvement activities related to career services programming, student engagement, and workforce development initiatives
  • Maintain current professional knowledge related to career advising, labor market trends, workforce development, and student success practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional operations
