About The Position

The Career Advisor provides comprehensive career development and professional employment services to students and alumni interested in various careers through career-related advising, assessment, resume approval, individual student job search assistance, and development and delivery of workshops/classes on a variety of career topics.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience
Effective written and oral communication skills with students, alumni, faculty, and employers
Positive public relations skills
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Creative thinking skills
Exceptional organizational skills
Problem solving skills
Knowledge of current trends and future developments in the career services area
Knowledge of computers and various software programs (data management, word processing, event management, and group presentations)
Demonstrates commitment to supporting all students

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree or higher with one (1) year of experience in career services, student services, business, human resources management, or counseling; OR a Master’s degree
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Two (2) years in university Career Services area
Knowledge of career theory and student development theory
Experience supervising students

Responsibilities

Career-related advising and assessment
Resume approval
Assisting individual students with job searches
Developing and delivering workshops and classes on career topics
Administrator for the Denise and Chandler Root Crimson Career Closet
Liaison with student organizations, academic departments, and other university departments
Maintaining knowledge of current trends in career services
Planning and organizing special events and materials for the Career Center
Serving on committees as needed
Completing required training and promoting a safe workplace
