About The Position

The Career Advisor will assist students with college, career, and job shadow information, as well as job applications, resumes, and interviewing skills. This role involves organizing and coordinating various business and career-related events, including speakers, tours, college fairs, and career connections fairs. The advisor will also assist with other speakers, events, and testing administrations such as PSAT, ACT, and ASVAB tests. Additionally, the position requires maintaining databases, student records, and updating marketing materials, as well as advertising events and communicating with students and families. Classroom presentations and promotion of career and college readiness are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working with students or working in a career advisory role preferred
  • Experience working with high school students/staff preferred
  • Successful background check required
  • General knowledge of the principles and practices of career education
  • General knowledge of business practices applicable to educational programs and students
  • Ability to be detail oriented with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to maintain a high level of student confidentiality
  • Ability to plan and supervise large and small scale events
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, officials, business/industry personnel and the general public

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates & facilitates business/industry speakers and tours
  • Coordinates & facilitates post-secondary tours
  • Coordinates & facilitates college fair and career connections fair
  • Assists with other speakers, events, and testing administrations (PSAT, ACT, & ASVAB tests)
  • Organizes and coordinates various large and small events, career speakers, and military rep visits
  • Maintains databases, student records, and updates marketing materials
  • Advertises events and communicates with students and families
  • Gives classroom presentations and promotes career and college readiness
