Career Advisor and Internship Program Coordinator
About The Position
The Career Advisor and Internship Program Coordinator supports organizational and department objectives by coordinating and implementing an internship program and providing professional support through career advising. The position supports the University's compliance with and fulfillment of SACS accreditation criteria, the VSU Mission and Master/Strategic Plan, and CAS Professional (Student Development/Services) Standards. The coordinator provides career advising and programming to students and alumni, helping students navigate the career development process, identify career opportunities, and target meaningful professional options.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of the career services field, including career services resources, tools, information, and programs.
- Experience in career coaching, advising, or counseling.
- Ability to market VSU Career Services to employers, faculty, staff, parents, and other constituents for internship, employment, and graduate/professional school opportunities.
- Ability to create, present, and facilitate career-related workshops and assist with resume and cover letter development.
- Project management, organization, and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented and collaborative approach.
- Computer savvy, with experience in database management and/or career services software.
- Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
