About The Position

Come join Liberal Arts Advisement & Careers, where we help students become career ready through strategically gaining competencies, skills, and experiences. As a Career Advancement Manager, you will help students from the College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences and the College of Humanities to apply their liberal arts training to their career and life goals. Your experience with developing partnerships and leading collaborative initiatives will be essential to connect students to opportunities that prepare them for placement in a job or career. Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution OR five years professional work experience in recruiting, career services, or other industry experience related to social sciences and humanities, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Project management and organizational skills, including ability to execute multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively across departments while influencing others without direct authority

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of managerial experience
  • Experience in higher education, career teaching, or career advising college students
  • Significant industry experience related to an assigned college area(s)
  • Experience with career development theory, experiential learning, internship development, and employer engagement
  • Knowledge of career pathways and employment trends for liberal arts disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Increase career outcomes: Develop and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, faculty, and community partners to provide more opportunities to students
  • Coach students on career planning, networking, and employment strategies
  • Coordinate employer recruiting activities, networking events, mentoring programs, and experiential learning opportunities
  • Build and strengthen Career Communities: Oversee Career Community events, workshops, and associated activities, including planning, organization, and recruiting support from alumni, faculty, advisors, and employers
  • Assess community participation and recommend improvements
  • Advance Career Placement: Collect, analyze, and report engagement and employment outcomes, then prepare reports and presentations for college leadership and Career Community Boards
  • Provide faculty and advisors with career resources, market information, and employment outcome data
