About The Position

Provide support to nursing and ancillary staff by safely transporting and transferring patients between beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, and diagnostic departments. Assist with patient meals and feeding as directed, maintain accurate documentation in the computerized bed-management system, and transport supplies, equipment, and specimens to support efficient patient care. Maintain and clean patient care equipment, coordinate equipment repairs, and train new Care Team Associates on departmental procedures. Serve as a resource for patients, families, and visitors by providing information, coordinating special requests, and delivering professional, compassionate service in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Requirements

  • Chauffeur driver license; class E or higher for Missouri residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff /ancillary staff in the transfer of patients from bed to bed, stretcher or wheelchair, pickup and delivery of patient meal trays and assisting with patient feeding as directed.
  • Educate and train new staff members in the responsibilities of the Care Team Associate role.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by nursing staff and unit management as needed in both routine and emergent situations.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely entry of information into computerized bed-management system.
  • Transport patient via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to destination. Includes taking patients to tests, transfers and discharges.
  • Transfer infusion pumps from pole to wheelchair, stretcher and bed.
  • Ensure equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, infusion pumps, etc. are routinely cleaned and available for use.
  • Retrieve, tag, and deliver broken equipment to repair shop. Deliver equipment back to unit once repaired.
  • Serve as resource and point of contact for information, serving patients, families, and visitors.
  • Inform patients and families of hospital services, features and amenities.
  • Coordinate all guest requests for special arrangements or services in a courteous and efficient manger by working with the appropriate departments and resources.
  • Transport supplies, equipment, and people in a work-related capacity.
  • Deliver specimens (including blood) to lab and delivering equipment and supplies to other departments as directed.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
