About The Position

Light of Life Ministries is a leading non-profit in Pittsburgh. We seek guest services team members that are outgoing, empathetic, and persuasive. Specifically, we're recruiting Care Support Specialists for our Women's Shelter. These individuals will work with people in varied circumstances related to homelessness, recovery, and mental illness. Work hours typically include weekend daylight shifts as well as evening, night, and daylight shifts during the regular work week. Due to the nature of our ministry serving some who struggle with issues of addiction or drug abuse, our staff may not use or consume controlled substances like marijuana, even when prescribed by a physician.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with diverse groups of clients and volunteers
  • Must be able to handle crisis and unexpected situations with calm and clear thinking
  • Must model personal responsibility, accountability, timely reporting, and a self-evaluative lifestyle
  • PA Driver's License with clean driving record required
  • Computer literate
  • High school diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of drug & alcohol recovery and mental illness preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations of our Women's Emergency Shelter, Meal Ministry, as well as other associated outreach functions.
  • Direct clients and guests to services during their visits to the shelter.
  • Monitor the building and its residents.
  • Aid in transporting clients or making arrangements for their transport.
  • Data entry of notes and statistics into a computer system.
