About The Position

Care and Protection (C&P) Team Member for Naval/Commercial Ships under construction at Austal USA. Performs C&P activities including but not limited to making physical rounds of the ship(s), modules, and warehouses. Constructing and/or modifying covers, applying protective coverings, installing pipe / flange covers, etc. Relies on established procedures, instructions and guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Team Member may also be required to assist with preventative maintenance of equipment under instruction.

Requirements

Must be able to read and understand manufacturers’ tech manuals in the event special care of equipment is required.
Ability to understand and work independently to complete work orders.
General understanding of basic carpentry and hand tool operation and safety.
Ability to follow the direction given to ensure the safety and protection of expensive equipment and machinery.
Demonstrated ability to work well with / interface with others.
18 years of age or older at time of application.
Able to provide proof of US Person Status.
No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date.
No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date.
Willing to submit to a drug screen.
Willing to submit to a background check.

Nice To Haves

An understanding of commonly-used shipboard concepts, practices, and procedures is desired.
Prior Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Mariner experience desired.
