The patient population on this unit in our new tower expansion at Vanderbilt University Hospital will be adult patients ranging in age from 18 years and older who are being treated for Acute Respiratory Failure, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Multisystem Organ System Failure, Sepsis, Drug Overdoses, Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Hypertensive Crisis, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, and Liver Failure/Cirrhosis. One of the perks of working in this unit will be the unique opportunity of opening a brand-new unit with a multidisciplinary team. In addition to traditional ICU assignments, another perk is the inclusion of progressive care beds which allows nurses to care for patients who need more monitoring than a general care or stepdown unit, but not the full intensity of ICU care.
