About The Position

Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The environment in this new unit will be upbeat and challenging. It will embrace strong team collaboration, with nurses and providers participating in rounding. The patient population on this unit in our new tower expansion at Vanderbilt University Hospital will be adult patients ranging in age from 18 years and older who are being treated for Acute Respiratory Failure, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Multisystem Organ System Failure, Sepsis, Drug Overdoses, Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Hypertensive Crisis, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, and Liver Failure/Cirrhosis. One of the perks of working in this unit will be the unique opportunity of opening a brand-new unit with a multidisciplinary team. In addition to traditional ICU assignments, another perk is the inclusion of progressive care beds which allows nurses to care for patients who need more monitoring than a general care or stepdown unit, but not the full intensity of ICU care. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester ( including nursing fundamentals clinical )
  • Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required)
  • Minimum of one year of recent experience ( within the past two years ) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.
  • High emotional intelligence
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience Level: Less than 1 year

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

  • Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
  • Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
  • Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards.
