About The Position
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Care Partner for the Trauma Stepdown Unit. This full-time night shift position involves assisting with patient care and maintaining unit standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. VUMC is a leading institution in Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated to advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. The Trauma unit specializes in Level I Trauma patients, providing quality care for multi-system acute and critical care patients with traumatic injuries. The team emphasizes teamwork, critical thinking, and rapid response to patient needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- AND one of the following:
- Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical)
- Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required)
- Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.

- All Employees (Night shift & PRN included) are required to attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment.

Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Assists with day-to-day delivery of patient care.
- Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
- Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
- Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards.
