About The Position

The Patient Care Technician assists with direct patient care specific to the assigned unit, patient transfers and repositioning, and transporting patients, supplies, or specimens. The role also includes other duties needed to support optimal patient care and physician service, under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse. The position is accountable to nursing and department leadership. The Main Emergency Department is hiring a full-time night-shift Care Partner at Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital. The schedule is 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m., three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekend requirements and weekly rotating shifts. The unit operates Monday through Sunday.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Less than one year of experience.
Ability to work under limited supervision and follow written and oral instructions.
Effective communication skills, empathy, and unconditional positive regard toward patients and co-workers.
Flexibility to meet scheduling needs, including weekend shifts and weekly rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care based upon the nursing process and the hospital’s mission and vision, as directed and observed by an RN or LPN.
Assist with patient transfers and repositioning.
Transport patients, supplies, or specimens.
Work under limited supervision and follow written and oral instructions.
Communicate effectively and demonstrate empathy and unconditional positive regard toward patients and co-workers.
Comply with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures, and regulations specific to the unit.
Maintain scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of patients, the community, and staff.
Complete annual education requirements by their due dates.
Apply standardized PPE practices to prevent infectious disease transmission and follow isolation processes.
Perform other assigned duties.
