About The Position
This is a full-time night shift position for a Care Partner in the VAD & Heart Transplant unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The role involves assisting with the delivery of patient care and maintaining unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The unit is a fast-paced, collaborative, high-acuity area specializing in advanced heart interventions, caring for adult patients with conditions such as ventricular assist devices (VADs), pre- and post-heart transplants, coronary artery bypass and valve surgeries, advanced heart failure treatments, and related procedures. The unit also manages patients with chest pain, arrhythmia, and myocardial infarctions, and performs various cardiac procedures. Notably, this unit is one of the few outside the Cardiovascular ICU trained to care for VAD patients and is the only VUMC stepdown unit trained to perform peritoneal dialysis.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical), OR Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required), OR Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.
