About The Position

TerraBella Senior Living is seeking a Care/Medication Technician for its community, Gardens of Gainesville. This role involves providing direct care, emotional support, and maintaining a safe environment for residents. The position is full-time and operates on the 3rd shift. Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Certified Nurse’s Aid certification preferred
  • CPR Certification preferred
  • First Aid Certification preferred
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift, ensuring their whereabouts and checking on them regularly.
  • Observe, report, and document resident symptoms and conditions, noting changes in skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary intake, and participation in activities.
  • Respond promptly to security systems and resident call bells.
  • Notify supervisors or Health Care Coordinator of any increased resident care needs.
  • Assist with continence management and ensure proper disposal of continence products.
  • Serve and collect food trays, assisting residents as needed and reporting any meal refusal or loss of appetite.
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and work areas.
  • Practice good standard care precautions for cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
  • Help residents maintain independence, promoting dignity and physical safety.
  • Actively participate in and lead residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating).
  • Engage residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities.
  • Greet and assist all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
  • Perform resident laundry as assigned and needed.
  • Review service plans to understand resident information.
  • Assist with and observe medications and treatments using the medication observation record and adhering to the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
  • Document and initial medication administration, including refusals or missed doses.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including medication details.
  • Report all resident concerns noted during medication assistance to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator (HCC).
  • Restock the medication cart after all medication passes.
  • Assist in checking medications regardless of the packaging system.
  • Count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
  • Maintain and clean the Medication Room, med charts, and treatment carts for neatness, cleanliness, availability of medications, and to remove expired medications.
  • Follow the re-fill process for medications.
  • Participate in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
  • Take and record temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration rates.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
