About The Position

The Office of Care Coordination is a division of the County Executive Office and ensures the County of Orange’s efforts to address homelessness are coordinated, comprehensive and compassionate by providing leadership, facilitating care for vulnerable populations, and supporting the integration of services in key service delivery areas. It is the goal of the Office of Care Coordination to prevent homelessness for any household at risk and to provide community resources and stable housing for anyone currently experiencing homelessness. The intern position will be stationed out of the County Administration North (CAN) building in Santa Ana CA. Traveling to in-person meetings within Orange County, department hosted events, and limited travel to other Office of Care Coordination offices (City of Orange and City of Laguna Hills). The intern will work alongside outreach and engagement field staff, supervisors, and administrative personnel to gain practical experience in homelessness response systems, coordination efforts, and operational support. This internship opportunity provides exposure to both administrative operations and field-based outreach activities while supporting data-driven programs and community engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or graduated (within the last 6 months) with their bachelor’s or graduate degree.
  • Completed coursework pertaining to social services, public administration, public health, psychology, social work, criminal justice, sociology, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work professionally with diverse populations
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Willingness to learn in both office and field environments
  • Ability to follow directions and complete assignments independently when needed
  • Ability to travel throughout the community as needed
  • Ability to participate in field observations and outreach activities
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work on a computer for extended periods
  • Must have reliable transportation to transport to in-person meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data related projects/assignments
  • Shadow/support administrative projects, scheduling, documentation, and organizational tasks
  • Shadow the Outreach & Engagement team during community engagement and outreach efforts
  • Shadow/participate in all staff meetings, trainings, and team briefings as assigned
  • Conduct research and assist with special projects related to homelessness services and community resources
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while handling sensitive information
  • Complete additional assignments and support tasks as needed
