About The Position

The Care Associate helps Calvary care well for its congregation and reach the surrounding community by mobilizing and equipping volunteers, strengthening care ministry systems, and coordinating compassionate, Christ-centered support for individuals and families in need. This role is accountable to the Board of Elders through the Senior Pastor and is a member of the Ministry Staff and appropriate ministry teams as assigned. The position is part-time, 28 hours per week, with regular schedules on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including some Sunday responsibilities and occasional evening meetings or special events. The core function is to mobilize and facilitate community engagement and congregational care by connecting people to Christ-centered support, equipping volunteers, and guiding individuals into discipleship.

Requirements

  • Relevant education or experience in ministry, biblical studies, social work, counseling, nonprofit work, or a related field.
  • Growing knowledge of Scripture and its application to discipleship, care, and relational ministry.
  • Demonstrated compassion, sound judgment, administrative ability, and appropriate relational boundaries with an ability to see opportunity to leverage technology for the sake of ministry.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, including the ability to recruit, train, and support volunteers.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers, connect people to appropriate ministry pathways, make wise referrals, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be a professing Christian who affirms the Calvary Church doctrinal basis, vision, values, and philosophy of ministry.
  • Regularly attend Calvary Church.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen communication, follow-up, and coordination between the Deacons and related care ministries, including Widows Ministry, Homebound Visitation, Benevolence, Calvary Care, and Tapestry.
  • Identify, recruit, equip, and launch volunteers into appropriate care ministry roles.
  • Develop clear volunteer pathways for individuals to serve in areas such as visitation, care support, benevolence follow-up, practical assistance, encouragement, and community engagement.
  • Foster a ministry culture where care is shared by the body of Christ and not dependent on one person or one team alone.
  • Serve as a facilitator who helps ministries function effectively by organizing people, processes, communication, and resources by identifying and/or leveraging appropriate technology to help support ministry needs.
  • Attend monthly benevolence meetings and provide administrative support as needed.
  • Assist with tracking benevolence requests, follow-up steps, communication, and implementation of approved support.
  • Collaborate with Deacons and appropriate ministry leaders in evaluating needs and coordinating care responses.
  • Help guide individuals toward next steps beyond financial assistance, including discipleship, community connection, practical support, and appropriate community resources.
  • Coordinate care ministries through recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling of volunteers in the Calvary Care ministry.
  • Provide month-end statistical documentation.
  • Serve within Calvary Care as needed.
  • Provide support to the Care Community Ministry at Calvary Church.
  • Assist with communication, coordination, and volunteer mobilization related to foster, adoptive, and vulnerable-family support.
  • Act as Liaison with external organizations networking needs within Calvary to resources within the community.
  • Support the equipping and training of families interested in foster care, adoption, or care community involvement.
  • Ensure all ministry environments reflect the love and truth of Christ.
  • Prioritize movement from care → community → discipleship.
