About The Position

Home Instead is seeking a compassionate, reliable Care Assistant to provide personalized, unhurried care to older adults in their own homes in Leigh and surrounding areas. The role is part of the weekend team and involves supporting clients to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity. Weekend schedules include morning and lunch visits from 06:45 to 15:00 and/or evening visits from 16:00 to 22:30; times can vary. Staff travel between client homes to provide weekend coverage and use a secure, password-protected app to document care. Comprehensive training is provided for basic health-related tasks. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and references. Sponsorship is not being offered at this time.

Requirements

Legal authorization to work in the United Kingdom.
Valid full driving license and access to reliable personal transportation.
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
Compassionate and caring personality with a genuine interest in helping others.
Physical capability to assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks.
Reliability and punctuality, particularly for weekend scheduling commitments.
Ability to work independently while following established care protocols.
Flexibility to adapt to varying client needs and weekend schedules.
Willingness to complete background checks and obtain DBS clearance.
Basic understanding of health and safety procedures in home care settings.
Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and client dignity.
Enhanced DBS disclosure and references are required.

Previous care experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care, including mobility support, bathing, and grooming.
Prepare nutritious meals and beverages according to clients’ dietary needs and preferences.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment.
Offer companionship through conversation, activities, and emotional support.
Assist with basic health-related tasks, including medication reminders and monitoring, with training provided.
Support clients with light housekeeping and daily living activities.
Document care using a secure, password-protected app.
Travel between client homes in Leigh and surrounding areas to provide weekend coverage.
Respond to client needs with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
Follow individualized care plans and maintain confidentiality.
Maintain professional boundaries and protect client dignity.
