About The Position
This role performs comprehensive ultrasound exams, adhering to established protocols for verification, planning, setup, execution, and reporting. The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Tech IV ensures patient safety and cooperation through clear communication and observation during procedures. They are responsible for accurate and timely completion of all clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests, including prompt reporting of critical results and maintaining patient privacy. The position involves effective communication with physicians, patients, and other center personnel, contributing to a positive work environment. This role also enhances teamwork by demonstrating motivation, accountability, and problem-solving skills, while also mentoring and developing others. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area, including equipment cleaning and stocking needs, is essential. The individual identifies learning needs and actively pursues professional growth through in-services, meetings, and suggesting process improvements. The Echo Sonographer IV role includes skills of Sono 1-3, Adult Congenital, +/- HCM, and complex pathology. This role is a solution-oriented driver of initiatives to promote excellence, leading by example to prioritize patient and team member safety and satisfaction. They contribute to a positive work environment by supporting peers, remaining flexible, adapting to unit needs, and modeling behavior consistent with HRO culture. Actively seeks out opportunities to teach, support, and/or mentor new hires. Leads by example; flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the department via on-call coverage, work schedule, and being available to team members. Preferred qualifications include ASE Membership, attending Echo Conferences, being a Preceptor, participating in Research, Publications, Educational activities, Shared Governance and/or Leadership roles, and serving as a Fellowship or Clinical Didactic Instructor. Completion of CVT PACT is also required.

Responsibilities
- Performs comprehensive ultrasound exams, following established protocols to verify, plan, set up, perform, and report appropriate examinations.
- Verifies patient identity and informs and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient education, cooperation, and safety.
- Assists in continuing quality assurance and performance improvement.
- Completes clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests, including accurate, complete, and timely recording of all testing information.
- Ensures that critical results are reported promptly and accurately, following established policy.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Communicates with physicians, patients, and other center personnel in a pleasant and informative manner.
- Makes recommendations to supervisor on related duties, policies, and procedures.
- Enhances environment of teamwork by showing motivation, enthusiasm, acceptance of responsibility, and personal accountability.
- Engages in problem solving in difficult situations, asks for assistance/guidance when appropriate, and accepts suggestions positively.

- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner, cleaning patient areas after each use.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly environment in the lab.
- Notifies supervisor of stocking needs and equipment needs or problems.
- Takes responsibility for lab opening and closing procedures when appropriate.
- Cleans and maintains all equipment according to Hospital Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Identifies own learning needs and responds to department needs.
- Identifies, acts on, and maintains a record of meetings, etc., to upgrade personal/professional growth.
- Attends in-services, lab, and departmental meetings.
- Strives to increase proficiency in testing and other lab procedures.
- Suggests new, changing, more efficient, or economical techniques, procedures, and processes.
