About The Position

The CVT performs, processes and coordinates all patient exams—Holter, ECG, BP Monitoring, and completes all necessary documentation.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologist (CSCT)
  • Two-year Community College diploma in CVT program
  • Experience in ECG
  • Experience in Cardiac Stress
  • Experience in Holter Scanning
  • Extensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathology
  • Proficient at identifying all cardiac arrhythmias
  • Demonstrated advanced ECG interpretive skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Current BCLS
  • Strong knowledge of emergency procedure and crash cart medications

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent patient care
  • Ensures timely completion of exams in an efficient and smooth-running lab
  • Prioritizes requests accordingly
  • Responsible for screening, performing, monitoring and assessing patients during procedure
  • Responsible for flagging any abnormalities to the reporting Cardiologist’s attention
  • Responds and assists Cardiologist if patient becomes unstable during procedure
  • Works closely with Cardiologist to monitor patient and complete procedure as needed
  • Review completed procedure for quality and completion
  • Complete necessary documentation post procedure
  • Complete download of patient information and analyzes/interprets recordings
  • Prints patient recording report as needed
  • Maintain equipment for functionality and archival storage
  • Maintain safe environment for patients, family, visitors and staff
  • Responsible for anti-septic technique for equipment cleaning and maintenance
  • Responsible for checking department crash cart—stocked and ready for use
  • Rotates and performs other CVT modalities and duties as needed
  • Prepare Teletrace patient kits
  • Review and correct procedure information into EPIC (Dovetale), ie ECGs
  • Assist with training of CVT students
  • Assist with educating other staff, residents, fellows and students
