About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center offering sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care. It is a major regional healthcare resource with a commitment to medical education and research. The hospital is seeking a Cardiovascular Technologist I for its Cath Lab. This role involves assisting physicians in delivering safe, age-appropriate patient care during cardiac catheterization procedures. The successful candidate will collaborate with the cath lab team to promote wellness, optimize patient outcomes, and participate in performance improvement activities. On-call responsibilities are also required.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma/Accredited Cardiovascular and/or Respiratory Care program or Radiologic Technologist Program Graduate and/or from a cardiovascular specialty program.
  • Successful completion of ACLS course for Healthcare providers within six months of employment.
  • Strong communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, customer service, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to effectively operate Hemodynamic monitoring systems used in a Cardiac Cath Lab for waveform analysis and acquisition.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
  • >= 3 years Experience in didactic cardiac catheterization lab.

Responsibilities

  • Circulating, monitoring, and scrubbing for diagnostic, interventional, and structured heart procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Ensuring daily quality control of equipment and escalating issues as needed.
  • Answering to on-call duties and responding to emergent, urgent, and/or routine call-ins outside of normal business hours.
  • Preparing for Cardiac Cath procedures, ensuring appropriate paperwork, equipment, supplies, and instruments are ready.
  • Monitoring patients and documenting pre/intra/post procedure information, including hemodynamics, supplies, medications, defibrillation, and administering oxygen and emergency medications during procedures following ACLS protocol.
