Requirements

  • Graduate of a Program in Discipline (Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology or RCIS) - Required
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Radiographer with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with a thorough working knowledge of practices and experiences in a Cardiac/Vascular Cath Lab.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be obtained within 90 days of employment, if not current upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • One year cardiovascular lab or special procedures experience - Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates specialized equipment for use in diagnostic and vascular test; and therapeutic interventions performed in the Cardiac/Vascular Cath Lab
  • Scrubs at the tableside and monitors patients as assigned.
  • Responsible for patient transport as necessary.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Assists Technicians in performing technical tasks.
  • Ensures temperature and environmental monitoring logs are maintained appropriately.
  • Keeps current on new drugs.
  • Must be able to perform all vascular/cardiac procedures involving the operation of imaging equipment including assisting the physician during the actual catheterization procedure.
