Emory Healthcare is seeking a Cardiovascular Specialist to join their team. This role involves acting as a liaison with vendors, participating in quality improvement initiatives, serving as a superuser for equipment and devices, and precepting staff. The specialist will also be involved in interdepartmental improvements, special projects, staff orientation, research and pilot trials, and assisting with quality and safety issues like device recalls and SAFE event reviews. The position supports department leadership in achieving organizational goals and growth, and involves precepting new staff and students. Key responsibilities include mastering hemodynamics, having intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting, assisting with circulating and scrubbing roles as needed, troubleshooting imaging equipment with biomedical engineers, participating in procedural charging, maintaining supply management, and acting quickly in emergency situations. The specialist will communicate with physicians regarding plans of action and assist with high-risk procedures, cross-train as needed, monitor cases, understand and work with x-ray systems, manage access sites, understand radiation safety, and be knowledgeable in coronary anatomy and lesion recognition. Basic knowledge of supply features and applications, and adherence to sterile technique are also required. Effective communication with the team, patients, families, and medical staff is essential. In the Cath Lab, responsibilities include assisting in procedures like complex PCI (including CTO), using specialty devices (rotoblater, CSI, laser, shockwave), potentially participating in structural heart cases, troubleshooting emergency equipment (balloon pump and ventricular assist device), and assisting in scrub roles for various procedures. In the EP Lab, the specialist will assist in advanced EP procedures (lead extractions, complex ablations, stims) and assist in scrub roles for cardiac ablations, device implants, ECDs, generator changes, and loop recorders. As a Clinical Expert, the role involves serving as a clinical expert in advanced interventional techniques, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment (hemodynamic system, imaging systems, advanced modalities), coordinating PM schedules, collaborating with Biomed for optimal uptime, and collaborating with the department educator for staff development. As a Supervisor, the role involves serving as a front-line leader, providing leadership for daily operations, assisting with evaluations, demonstrating strong interpersonal leadership skills, promoting teamwork, anticipating problems, and collaborating with the billing/coding team for proper charging.
