About The Position

This position is for a Cardiovascular Specialist I in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. It is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts. The role involves being on call one night per week and every 5th weekend. The pay range is $35.50 - $53.25 per hour.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Allied Health Technology (e.g., Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy).
  • Graduate of Cardiovascular Interventional Program or minimum of two years of experience as a Cardiovascular Specialist.
  • Registered with and certified by the ARRT or current license as a Registered Nurse in applicable state.
  • Registry or license as it pertains to Allied Health field of expertise.
  • CPR certification.
  • Able to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses, and other ancillary professional staff.
  • Able to comprehend instructions.
  • Able to obtain/communicate information to patients of varying age groups and at their level of comprehension.
  • Analytical skills necessary for problem assessment and solution with schedules and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to general hospital standards, policies, and procedures to promote a cooperative work environment.
  • Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies, recognizes, and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and the facility.
  • Operates all equipment needed for invasive or interventional cardiology, including IABP, and prepares medications and checks emergency equipment.
  • Maintains files and compiles records according to procedure for accurate departmental records and reports.
  • Communicates effectively, positively, and professionally with the team, co-workers, patients, and family members.
  • Provides coverage for 24-hour emergency call for the Cardiac Cath Lab, responding within 25 minutes.
  • Administers patient care as mandated by licensure, certification, or registration, monitoring patients and performing/assisting in procedures.
  • Provides instruction, education, and consultation to co-workers, new employees, and trainees.
  • Performs and maintains competency for point of care testing as assigned.
  • Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient procedures are provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
