About The Position

The Cardiovascular Services/Radiology Tech is responsible for assisting physicians in scrubbing, monitoring, collecting, and processing radiological and physiological data during coronary diagnostic and interventional procedures. This role also involves operating radiographic imaging equipment and automatic high-pressure contrast media injection systems. The position requires on-call duties for emergency cases such as STEMI and Stroke patients. The technician must demonstrate knowledge and skills in assisting physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, operating imaging and physiologic monitoring systems, and assisting during device insertions. They will perform emergency duties including CPR, temporary pacemaker placement, pericardiocentesis, and insertion of an aortic balloon pump. The role also requires demonstrating knowledge of age-specific care for adult and geriatric populations, completing accurate patient record documentation, maintaining supplies and equipment, and ensuring patient comfort and privacy. This is a full-time position with day shifts.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two (2) year approved Radiologic Technician program.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a diagnostic and interventional procedural Lab.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work in a union environment.
  • State of California Certificate as a Certified Radiologic Technologist and Radiological Technologist Fluoroscopy.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS card.
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS card.
  • Assault Response Competency (ARC) required (within 30 days of hire).
  • LA County Fire card (within 30 days from start).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting physicians in scrubbing, monitoring, collecting, and processing radiological and physiological data during coronary diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Operating radiographic imaging equipment and automatic high-pressure contrast media injection systems.
  • Operating imaging systems in all modalities, including x-ray table and computerized analysis software.
  • Operating physiologic monitoring systems and understanding cardiac rhythms and hemodynamics.
  • Assisting the physician during the insertion of guidewires, catheters, angioplasty, stent placement, coils, and other devices.
  • Performing diagnostic and interventional procedures under fluoroscopy and treatments prescribed by a physician.
  • Performing emergency duties, including CPR, assisting with temporary pacemaker placement, pericardiocentesis, and insertion of aortic balloon pump.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of age-specific care for adult and geriatric populations.
  • Completing and keeping accurate documentation of the patient’s medical records.
  • Maintaining accurate reports, records, and statistics.
  • Connecting EKG, pulse oximeter, and non-invasive blood pressure monitors to the patient.
  • Shaving and prepping the puncture site, assisting with patient transport, and setting up procedure trays.
  • Inventorying and maintaining supplies.
  • Maintaining patient images library.
  • Testing and performing quality control procedures on imaging equipment.
  • Maintaining x-ray lead aprons and radiological badges.
  • Procuring and posting monthly radiation reports.
  • Demonstrating sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy needs (confidentiality).
  • Acting as a patient advocate.
