Requirements

  • CCP degree - Graduate of an accredited perfusion education program (certified through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion) is required.
  • Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) (or board-eligible with certification obtained within agreed timeframe).
  • Current New York State license (or eligibility; must be secured prior to start).
  • BLS and ACLS required (or within 90 days of hire).
  • Light to medium work: The ability to stand for prolonged periods of time as well as move/position equipment (with assistance as needed).
  • Manual dexterity and visual/auditory acuity sufficient for equipment operation and monitoring.
  • Use of PPE in sterile and semi-restricted environments.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • New graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
  • 1–3+ years of independent adult cardiac perfusion experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with ECMO, cell salvage, and advanced blood management strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Management of cardiopulmonary bypass
  • Supporting mechanical circulatory technologies
  • Participate in blood conservation strategies in collaboration with our surgical and ICU team
  • Be proficient and up to date with modern platforms
  • Use teamwork to ensure patient safety
  • Aid in education, working with staff to advance practical knowledge, safety and strategies to improve patient outcomes
  • Equipment care, turnover, sampling / monitoring
  • Participate in scheduled department meetings
