About The Position

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a Cardiovascular MRI Technologist to join their elite Cardiac MRI team. This full-time position offers a supportive environment with a focus on work-life balance, featuring daylight hours only (Monday-Friday, 8 or 10-hour shifts between 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) with no evenings, weekends, holidays, or call. The role involves partnering with physicians on protocol development, learning to prescribe cardiac imaging planes, operating advanced equipment, performing quality control, learning post-processing for cardiac MRI, progressing to independent study performance, maintaining safety standards, supporting QA and research initiatives, and participating in standardization efforts. After 6-8 months, the technologist will transition to independent coverage and satellite support.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an accredited MRI-related program and/or ARRT (MR) certification.
  • 2 years MRI experience required.
  • Demonstration of active interest in either cardiac MR or in general MRI education (e.g. shadowing, prior cardiac MR experience, involvement in MR education activities).
  • ARRT MR Certified.
  • CPR or BLS Required.
  • Act 33, 34, 73 or as required by business unit.
  • ARRT Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with supervising physicians to support protocol development
  • Learn to prescribe essential cardiac imaging planes (4-, 3-, 2-chamber views and short axis) within 3 months
  • Operate advanced specialty equipment and perform quality control activities
  • Learn post-processing for cardiac MRI, including LVEF, RVEF, and flow analysis, within 3 months
  • Progress toward independently performing basic cardiac MRI studies within 6 months
  • Maintain MR and patient safety standards, including contrast administration and accurate documentation
  • Support QA, regulatory testing, and technical/research initiatives
  • Participate in system-wide standardization efforts
  • Transition to independent coverage and satellite support after 6–8 months
