Cath Lab - Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist (CVT)
About The Position
Sentara Heart Hospital is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist in the Cath Lab. This is a full-time position with day shifts and some on-call requirements, located in Norfolk, VA, within the Heart Hospital connected to Norfolk General Hospital. The role involves assisting in cardiac and vascular procedures under the direction of a physician, utilizing specialized equipment to diagnose and treat heart conditions while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist performs patient assessments, evaluates patient responses during procedures, and provides patient care as directed. They also act as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterizations. A strong preference is given to candidates who are graduates of a health sciences program (cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) or are licensed/certified EMTs or paramedics. ACLS certification is not required at hire but must be obtained within 90 days.
Requirements
- HS Diploma (required)
- BLS certification
- ACLS required within 90 days of hire
- Related experience such as working as a Cardiovascular Invasive Tech or working in an invasive cardiac environment, EMT or paramedic experience
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of a diploma, associates, or bachelor's health sciences program (includes, but is not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy or nursing)
- Licensed/certified EMT or paramedic
Responsibilities
- Assists in the performance of cardiac and vascular procedures under the direction of a qualified physician.
- Utilizes specialized equipment for accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease.
- Maintains maximum patient safety and comfort during procedures.
- Performs/reviews a baseline patient assessment.
- Evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers during cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures.
- Provides patient care commonly used in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as requested and under the direction of a qualified physician.
- Acts as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization.
