About The Position

The Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist (Registered) will provide assistance to the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures. This role involves measuring various cardiovascular parameters such as cardiac output, blood flow velocity, cardiovascular dynamics, cardiac electrophysiology parameters, intracardiac shunt detection, valve flow/valve area determinations, intracardiac pressure measurements, oximetry determination, cineangiocardiography, and the measurement and calculation of cardiac function indices. The technologist assists in all phases of the catheterization procedure, including catheter insertion, operation of electronic instruments, and calculation of hemodynamic data. The position is full-time, 80 hours per pay period, with a day shift. Experienced candidates are eligible for a $7,500 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 (six) months experience within an invasive cardiac catheterization laboratory that performs invasive cardiac catheterization and associated procedures.
  • Must hold current registration as a: CCI Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and/or CCI Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) and/or ARRT RT(R) - preferably with a VI or CI category designation.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures.
  • Measure cardiovascular parameters such as cardiac output, blood flow velocity, cardiovascular dynamics, cardiac electrophysiology parameters, intracardiac shunt detection, valve flow/valve area determinations, intracardiac pressure measurements, oximetry determination, cineangiocardiography, and the measurement and calculation of cardiac function indices.
  • Assist in all phases of catheterization procedure including insertion of the catheter, operation of various electronic instruments and calculation of hemodynamic data.
  • Serve as a role model, team leader, preceptor, and cross-train to other areas.
  • Provide education to the community and department.
  • Maintain established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, general safety and radiation safety standards, and equipment quality control.
  • Actively participate in the orientation and training of new employees and students.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in complex clinical skills to include; IABP, stents, DCA, complex PTCA's, Alblations and Pacemakers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac anatomy and physiology, correlating pressure wave forms and rhythm analysis.
  • Be proficient in patient assessment, monitoring and sterile technique as required.
  • Assist in the maintenance and effective use of all equipment and supplies in the clinical areas.
  • Be a member of a department or hospital committee with documented participation of 75%.
  • Respond appropriately and timely to patients, physicians and other customers’ needs.
  • Provide six (6) credit hours of in-service training per year.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Complete required education assignments annually.
  • Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
