About The Position

This role involves assisting physicians in all aspects of invasive cardiovascular procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring hemodynamic parameters. The specialist will operate interventional equipment, provide patient care, explain procedures, and ensure patient safety and comfort. Responsibilities also include managing sterile trays, maintaining inventory, performing equipment maintenance and safety checks, and coordinating work for maximum productivity. Specific duties related to Electrophysiology (EP) are applicable for EP Tech roles.

Requirements

Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
Associate's degree or higher in Cardiovascular Technology OR Associate's degree or higher and a minimum of 3 years recent experience as a Cardiovascular Tech in a Cardiac Cath Lab.
Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) (obtain within 6 months, offered within).
Intra-aortic Balloon Pump Course (IABP) (complete within 6 months, offered within).
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certification (RCIS) (for job code 8147).
Completion of EP training program (for job code 8156).
5 years recent experience (within the past 7 years) as a Cardiovascular Tech in a Cardiac Cath Lab (for job code 8156).
5 years recent experience (within the past 5 years) in Cardiovascular EP (for job code 8149).
Completion of an EP Training Program (for job code 8149).

Responsibilities

Assist the Physicians in all aspects of invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance to policy and procedure.
Assists in diagnostic interventional procedures operating interventional and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures to insure safety and comfort while preparing for and while undergoing interventional procedures.
Provides explanation of procedures and answer patient and answers pertinent questions of patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
Transfers patients onto medical equipment, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity.
Sets up sterile tray, cleans and disposes after procedure.
Participates in activities which promote professional self-growth and development.
Assist physician with administration of contrast media.
Assists in maintaining inventory for the department.
Responsible for all aspects of Electrophysiology (EP) program (applies to EP Tech only job code 8148&8149).
Keeps current of new developments in EP (applies to EP Tech only job code 8148 & 8149).
Responsible for preventative maintenance of interventional equipment.
Cleans interventional equipment.
Performs routine safety checks and inspections of equipment to ensure these are current, in good order and ready for use.
Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.
