About The Position
This is an ongoing coverage need for a Cardiothoracic Surgery PA at a community hospital. The role involves inpatient, OR, and call coverage for an adult patient population. The average census is between 5-10 patients. The position is offered as an independent contractor (1099) role.
Requirements
- Active Virginia licensure
- Board certification
- AHA BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum 1-year Cardiothoracic Surgery experience or equivalent
- Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
- Active and unencunbered physician assistant (PA) license in Virginia
- National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
- Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
- Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
