Cardiothoracic Surgery PA Assignment Length: Through August 31 Start Date: As soon as credentialed Openings: 1 Reason for Coverage: Long-term permanent search Practice Setting: Inpatient, OR and Call coverage Level I trauma center Responsibilities include: CABG Valve repair/replacement EVH/EAH SFA exposure Sternotomy closure Critical care management (CVICU) Impella management Procedures including: central line, chest tube, arterial/venous sheath Schedule: Full-time coverage Monday-Friday Rotating call coverage Patient Population: Adult, Geriatric EMR: Cerner Credentialing: 90 days Requirements: Active Tennessee licensure Board certification AHA BLS and ACLS certifications Minimum 1-year Cardiothoracic Surgery experience or equivalent Job Responsibilities (Generalized): Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions Develop and implement individualized treatment plans Order and interpret diagnostic tests Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices. Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care Document patient care accurately and thoroughly Skills: Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team Requirements Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program Licenses & Certifications: Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Tennessee National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Tennessee National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Experience: While specific requirements may vary, most locum APP positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
