About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in a busy practice. The role involves inpatient, OR, clinic, and call coverage. The practice sees an average of 8-10 patient encounters per shift and is associated with a dedicated 30-bed CVICU/CCU and a Level I trauma center. The position is offered as an independent contractor (1099) role.

Requirements

Active Montana licensure
Board certification
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum 1-year Cardiothoracic Surgery experience or equivalent
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Montana OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Montana
National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Order and interpret diagnostic tests
Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
