About The Position
Provide specialized cardiothoracic surgical support services, including assisting in the operating room, performing advanced procedures, and delivering direct patient care in a VA clinical setting.
Requirements
- Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Current, unrestricted medical license
- BLS & ACLS certifications
- Extensive cardiothoracic experience required, including: 100+ endoscopic vein harvesting procedures
- Strong clinical, surgical, and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Assist in cardiothoracic surgeries (first and second assist)
- Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (radial and saphenous)
- Conduct procedures such as: Central line placement (ultrasound-guided), Chest tube insertion/removal, Swan-Ganz catheter placement/removal, Cardioversion and pacing wire removal
- Support robotic and bedside surgical procedures
- Document care in electronic health records (EHR)
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, HIPAA, and VA standards
