About The Position

The Cardiopulmonary Supervisor will coordinate and execute the activities of staff within the CV Respiratory Therapy Department or staff assigned to special teams/programs. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating all aspects relating to patient care. The Supervisor determines the appropriate skill level of staff needed for unit or program requirements, utilizing evidence-based information. The Supervisor assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the pillars of excellence (Finance, Delivery, Quality, Patient/Employee Experience, Safety, and Growth) into their job performance. The Supervisor functions independently and may occasionally provide direct patient care as needed. They will assist the Director-Cardiopulmonary/System Director Cardiopulmonary in executing HonorHealth's vision, mission, and values, exceeding customer/stakeholder expectations for the CV Respiratory Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in either Healthcare, Business or Education Required
  • 5 years clinical experience in an acute care facility with one (1) year of lead experience Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Certification Required
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - License Required
  • Licensed Arizona Respiratory License Required
  • Respiratory Therapist - Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - License Required
  • Current RRT credential Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in either Healthcare or Business Preferred
  • 7 years clinical experience in an acute care facility and three (3) years of lead experience Preferred
  • 2 years of Vascular Access Insertion experience Preferred
  • Vascular Access Board Certification (VA-BC) or Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) or Neonatal & Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate charge documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Responsible for maintaining staffing levels that meet or exceed WHOUPS goals.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining a supply par level for all equipment assigned to the Respiratory department.
  • Responsible for composing and managing the department schedule to meet all obligations, productivity levels, and program requirements.
  • Conducts huddles to review department operations, patient care, and communication requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate supply and equipment levels to provide optimum patient care, composing requisition requests as per guidelines.
  • Support Sepsis Alert Team staff as required to meet bundle compliance and program obligations.
  • Support Vascular Access Team staff as necessary to complete required duties.
  • Serve as a resource in all modalities of Respiratory Therapy and designated programs.
  • Stay informed and up-to-date on all new and evolving policy, procedures, and processes.
  • Share best practices, equipment, staffing, supplies, and processes to promote consistency, collaboration, and standardization.
  • Maintain and update DMS Huddle Board/Problem Solving Board.
  • Maintain and update departments/employees' required licensure, competencies, and certifications.
  • Conducts purposeful rounding throughout the facility on both patients and staff, resulting in real-time problem-solving and developing trusting relationships.
  • Round daily with Sepsis Alert Team to discuss SEP-1 Bundle Compliance.
  • Provide informative and effective employee evaluations and reviews.
  • Work with the Director to increase Department Employee Engagement.
  • Act as department advocate in assigned committees or organizational programs.
  • Update and maintain risk event reporting.
  • Work with Director to promote departmental safety.
  • Collaborate with system educators in developing accurate competencies for all staff.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate safety initiatives.
  • Provide innovative ideas for enhanced efficiencies and service line opportunities.
  • Collaborate with staff to effectively implement ideas, suggestions for improvement, and growth opportunities as brought forth by the department ACT team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
