About The Position

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University is seeking a Cardiology Research Coordinator to manage protocol compliance for patients in clinical studies, assist with patient recruitment for clinical trials, and support faculty, residents, and staff in patient care. This role involves administrative tasks such as sample collection, data entry, shipping, ordering, and maintaining study binders. The Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Service has experienced significant growth, with many procedural cases enrolled in clinical trials. This role is crucial for facilitating further expansion by providing expertise in clinical research and a strong knowledge of cardiology. The position involves organizing patient inquiries for advanced procedures, maintaining up-to-date medical records and cardiac images, and facilitating long-term outcome studies.

Requirements

B.A./B.S. in a related field OR a master’s degree with no experience.
3 or more years of relevant professional experience (if not pursuing Master's degree).
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and customer service.
Exemplary organizational and time management skills.
Strong interests in clinical research.
Experience in data input and management.
Experience and knowledge of the use of Microsoft applications and other spreadsheet applications.
Legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date.

Experience with data analysis, scientific writing, or specialized research techniques relevant to the hiring lab.
Able to learn how to use advanced imaging programs and conversant with technology and the management of large volumes of medical imaging data.

Responsibilities

Manage protocol compliance for patients in clinical studies.
Assist in patient recruitment for clinical trials and clinical research.
Provide assistance to faculty, residents, and staff during the care of patients, including receiving patients, collecting samples, and data entry.
Perform study-related administrative tasks such as shipping, ordering, and updating clinical trials patient rosters.
Maintain study binders for all patients enrolled into clinical trials, ensuring completeness.
Manage inquiries for advanced procedures, including transcatheter edge-to-edge repair of the mitral valve and advanced surgical procedures.
Collect medical records and cardiac imaging for cases.
Communicate with referring cardiologists, referring veterinarians, and pet owners.
Organize inquiries in a spreadsheet and work closely with the medical team to respond in a timely fashion.
Assess patient eligibility for clinical studies by evaluating inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Obtain informed consent from owners.
Respond to study-related questions from owners and referring veterinarians.
Enter data into paper and electronic systems.
Maintain patient records and databases.
Catalog multidisciplinary case reviews.
Oversee the shipment of study-related samples.
Order laboratory and study supplies as needed.
Oversee storage of study-related samples and images.
Communicate with study sponsors and collaborating institutions.
Manage study-related resources.
Adjust patient invoices to reflect study-covered expenses.
Assemble study information packets and patient study binders.
Compile and maintain medical records and data capture forms.
Communicate with study sponsors when additional study supplies are needed.
Communicate with study personnel at other institutions where the study is being conducted.
Maintain up-to-date medical records and cardiac images prior to referral.
Collect follow-up medical records and cardiac images post-surgery from referring cardiologists for facilitation of long-term outcome studies.
