About The Position

Wilmington Health Cardiology is seeking a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their team. This role involves a balanced schedule of outpatient clinic and inpatient care with a 1:5 call rotation. The position offers a collaborative environment with a team of cardiologists and advanced practitioners. The NP/PA will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive cardiovascular care, conducting patient assessments, diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, and managing both acute and chronic cardiac conditions. They will contribute to improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices and compassionate care.

Requirements

  • Current and unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the United States.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as an NP or PA in Cardiology or outpatient Internal Medicine.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology.
  • Ability to perform and interpret cardiovascular diagnostic assessments.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certification such as Acute Care NP or Cardiology PA specialty certification.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telemedicine platforms.
  • Familiarity with clinical research protocols and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Completion of continuing education courses focused on the latest cardiology treatments and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cardiovascular patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with a range of cardiac conditions including heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and hypertension.
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and preventive cardiology to empower patients in their health journey.
  • Monitor patient progress through follow-up visits, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and facilitate referrals for advanced interventions or specialty care when indicated.
  • Provide first-call general cardiology support for the EP Cardiologist, which includes after hours and weekend work.
