About The Position

At Nevada Heart and Vascular Center (NHVC) the Cardiovascular Technician (CVT), under the direction of the Nurse Manager, and clinic physicians is primarily tasked with ensuring the safe delivery of non-invasive cardiac testing and monitoring. In this clinical role, the CVT will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and performing diagnostic testing of the cardiovascular system to aid in the discovery and treatment of heart and blood vessel disorders.

Requirements

  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification and training from an accredited institution.
  • Current BLS and ACLS CPR certification from the American Heart Association
  • General computer skills with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.
  • Detail-oriented with good analytical and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cohesively within a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, staff, physicians, and all levels of management.
  • Ability to use a wide array of office equipment including, but not limited to a PC, copier, fax machine, and multi-line telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the safe delivery of non-invasive cardiac testing and monitoring.
  • Providing exceptional patient care and performing diagnostic testing of the cardiovascular system to aid in the discovery and treatment of heart and blood vessel disorders.
  • Maintaining professional etiquette and interpersonal skills, including effective and appropriate communication with all staff, physicians and patients at all times.
  • Displaying time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ensuring punctuality for work hours, lunch breaks, and meetings.
  • Deferring to more senior staff, and/or correctly escalating challenges up the chain of command.
  • Locating, reviewing and critically interpreting/analyzing data.
  • Working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Supporting patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Upholding a collaborative approach to teamwork, and desire to be a team-player.
  • Ensuring effective illness prevention in, and sanitation of, clinical areas.
  • Understanding, participating in, and utilizing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects.
  • Following all policies, procedures, and other directives from administration to include but not limited to: OSHA Safety Manual, Corporate Compliance Manual, HIPAA Compliance Manual, Employee Handbook, Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Traveling to various locations if needed and having reliable transportation.
  • Arriving at scheduled shift/ location fifteen minutes prior to clinic start, unless approved by management.
  • Verifying patient identity using two unique identifiers.
  • Educating and explaining procedures to be performed to the patient, and answering questions.
  • Rooming patients, asking pre-screening questions, obtaining vital signs and documenting on appropriate form while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Starting an intravenous (IV) line on patients if required.
  • Safely positioning the patient on the exam table or treadmill as testing type dictates.
  • Performing a regular treadmill stress test, a Cardiolyte treadmill stress test, Lexiscan, or echo treadmill stress test as determined by physician order and patient need.
  • Ensuring the safety and monitoring of all patients before, during and after testing has completed.
  • Notifying the NHVC physician immediately of abnormal patient response or results of any tests performed.
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions, accidents or incidents as they occur.
  • Accurately reviewing, analyzing and updating patient medical records.
  • Using diagnostic medical equipment after receiving proper training.
  • Maintaining supply management, stocking and organizing.
  • Ensuring sanitary standards in clinic rooms between patient visits.
  • Attending staff and other meetings and training courses as needed.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.
