About The Position

Performs various (basic and advanced) cardiac ultrasound examinations under the direction of a staff Cardiologist. Utilizes Ultrasound equipment. Provides direct patient care to patients. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department, ensuring quality and continuity of patient care. Rotates between the Davis and Mayo buildings and may be required to rotate to outreach sites. Responsible for thorough imaging and documentation of various conditions and anatomical differences. Must possess extensive knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Uses several different types of Ultrasound equipment and transducers. Utilizes all Ultrasound techniques, including gray scale imaging, color and spectral Doppler, 3D, and strain imaging. Provides the interpreting physician with a preliminary report through EIMS, then reviews all images prior to the final reading of the exam. Must be well-organized and able to function independently. Assists in the orientation and training of all levels of trainees and visitors assigned to the Echocardiography Laboratory. Expectations extend to include on-call practices, weekends, evenings, and holiday coverage as needed. Must possess strong human relation and communication skills, and sound judgment. Must have an understanding of sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques, and must exercise proper precautions to avoid potential exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, sharp instruments, and defibrillator equipment.
