About The Position

A Level II Trauma Center and accredited Chest Pain Center in the Kansas City area is seeking Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurses (Telemetry RNs) to join a high-acuity cardiac specialty unit supporting a diverse patient population requiring advanced cardiac monitoring and progressive care services. This role offers strong clinical exposure to telemetry, stepdown-level cardiac patients, stroke care, chest pain management, post-operative recovery, and cardiac rhythm monitoring within a collaborative team-oriented environment focused on career development and advancement into higher-acuity critical care pathways. The unit is a 36-bed Cardiac Specialty Unit with a stepdown-level cardiac and monitored patient population. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4:1–5:1 during the day and 5:1–6:1 at night. There is dedicated patient care technician support on each hall. The role involves exposure to chest pain patients, stroke patients, COPD exacerbations, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac drips, post-operative patients, and trauma stepdown patients. Requirements

  • Active Missouri RN license or compact multistate RN license
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN)
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience
  • BLS certification upon hire
  • ACLS certification within 1 year of hire
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiac telemetry or progressive care experience
  • Stepdown or PCU experience
  • Experience with monitored cardiac patients and cardiac drips
  • Prior trauma or stroke patient exposure

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient-centered nursing care to telemetry and stepdown cardiac patients
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, identify arrhythmias, and intervene appropriately during emergent situations
  • Administer medications, cardiac drips, and treatments according to physician orders and evidence-based protocols
  • Assess and monitor patients experiencing acute cardiac and medical changes
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, case management, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Educate patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, medications, recovery, and discharge planning
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support patient safety initiatives
  • Participate in quality improvement and unit-based patient care initiatives
