About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General is looking for a Cardiac Technician to join the Endoscopy Team. This is a part-time position requiring two 12-hour shifts per week with a rotating schedule. Cardiac Techs assist Registered Nurses (RNs) in the Endoscopy Unit, which handles 20-30 patient preps and recoveries daily. Responsibilities include preparing patients postoperatively (connecting to monitors, cleaning, repositioning), obtaining EKGs and specimens, removing arterial and venous sheaths from femoral, radial, and brachial sites, assisting patients with eating, toileting, and other requests, and transporting patients to inpatient rooms or assisting with discharge. The role requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and stand for extended periods.

Requirements

High School degree or equivalent
patient care technician, cardiac tech, healthcare tech in similar setting experience preferred

Responsibilities

Aid RNs throughout the Endoscopy Unit.
Prep and recover patients.
Settle patients in the room postoperatively (hooking to the monitor, cleaning, repositioning).
Obtain EKGs or any specimens ordered.
Remove arterial and venous sheaths from the femoral, radial and brachial sites.
Help patients that are on bedrest with eating, toileting, or any other request per the patient.
Transporting patients to their inpatient room or assisting in the discharge process.
