About The Position

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their high-performing, collaborative academic team in the Department of Cardiac Surgery. This is a full-time position with a rotating day/night schedule, including weekends and holidays, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week. The team provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art cardiac surgical care, including open and endovascular aortic repair, coronary revascularization, structural heart procedures, and mechanical circulatory support. Advanced Practice Providers are integral to the service, providing first assisting in surgery, endoscopic vein harvesting, and patient care across the ICU, post-operative floor, and outpatient clinic. The program performs approximately 550 cases annually.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Board certification required
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC)
  • Current Massachusetts license
  • ACLS and BLS Certified

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of relevant clinical experience

Responsibilities

  • Performing and documenting complete histories and physical examinations, with thorough review of the medical record to formulate diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Ordering, interpreting, and reviewing laboratory tests and imaging studies
  • Participating in daily inpatient rounds; evaluating patients; reviewing diagnostic data; and documenting daily progress notes
  • Requesting consultations and communicating effectively with consulting services
  • Performing routine bedside and clinical procedures in accordance with approved Delineation of Privileges
  • Assisting in surgical and other invasive procedures, as applicable

Benefits

  • Hiring Range: $135,283.20 - $170,414.40
