About The Position

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their high-performing, collaborative academic team in the Department of Cardiac Surgery. This role is part of a larger service that includes 16 Advanced Practice Providers, 3 Cardiac Surgeons, and 7 Surgical Intensivists. The team provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art cardiac surgical care, including open and endovascular aortic repair, coronary revascularization, structural heart procedures, and mechanical circulatory support. The scope of care covers the full continuum of perioperative cardiac surgery, from high-acuity tertiary and quaternary cases to routine procedures, with approximately 550 cases performed annually. Advanced Practice Providers are essential to the service, acting as the first point of contact for patient care in the ICU, post-operative floor, and outpatient clinic. They also provide operative first assisting and endoscopic vein harvesting. Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Board certification required
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC)
  • Current Massachusetts license
  • ACLS and BLS Certified

  • 1–3 years of relevant clinical experience

Responsibilities

  • Performing and documenting complete histories and physical examinations, with thorough review of the medical record to formulate diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Ordering, interpreting, and reviewing laboratory tests and imaging studies
  • Participating in daily inpatient rounds; evaluating patients; reviewing diagnostic data; and documenting daily progress notes
  • Requesting consultations and communicating effectively with consulting services
  • Performing routine bedside and clinical procedures in accordance with approved Delineation of Privileges
  • Assisting in surgical and other invasive procedures, as applicable
  • Surgically trained APPs provide operative first assisting and endoscopic vein harvesting in all cases.

Benefits

  • Hiring Range: $135,283.20 - $170,414.40
