About The Position

The Cardiac Sonographer performs advanced ultrasound imaging procedures assisting in diagnosing and monitoring a wide range of medical conditions. This role requires technical expertise in operating ultrasound equipment, patient care skills, and the ability to provide accurate and high-quality diagnostic images. Responsibilities also require a strong commitment to patient care and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Sonography program with required clinical training, OR Completion of on-the-job training under the supervision of a registered Cardiac Ultrasound Preceptor.
  • No prior experience required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) certification or registry eligible (must obtain certification within 6 months of eligibility).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • State licensure, if required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform adult echocardiography procedures and obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Select appropriate imaging techniques and evaluate image quality for clarity, accuracy, and completeness before physician interpretation.
  • Prepare, position, and assist patients throughout procedures while providing compassionate care and education.
  • Review imaging orders and accurately document patient information, procedures, contrast administration, and patient responses.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after exams, utilizing appropriate transfer and immobilization techniques when necessary.
  • Manage and maintain imaging records within PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning, maintenance, and safety checks.
  • Identify equipment or technology needs and help facilitate resolutions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
