About The Position

To perform cardiac ultrasound procedures of a professional level on all patient population serviced by South Shore Health & Educational Corporation other than pediatric patients. Responsible for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patient

Requirements

  • At least a (2) two year Echocardiography accredited program including technical and clinical training culminating in an associate degree or higher.
  • At least (1) one to (2) two years experience preferred
  • RDCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)) or RCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (within 180 days after start date)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 180 days after start date)
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in echocardiography.
  • Must be able to recognize abnormal structure and be able to correlate this information into a useful study.
  • Must be able to deviate from normal techniques, when necessary, to develop new techniques.
  • Must be able to utilize ancillary devices, i.e., selected transducers
  • Per diem, as needed
  • ACLS (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete study including M-MODE, REAL TIME, COLOR FLOW MAPPING and DOPPLER.
  • Acquires all necessary images and measurements according to lab protocols
  • Interprets all techniques giving internal dimensions, wall motion and flow pattern analysis.
  • Quantitative abnormal valve areas calculating gradients.
  • Obtains permanent records of examination.
  • Looks up patient information and previous echo exams in the patient's electronic medical records system
  • Completes exam documentation and billing info in the patient's electronic medical records
  • Contributes professional knowledge to final diagnostic impression or report.
  • Writes preliminary interpretation for physician review.
  • Informs physician during reading session of any non-conventional views taken.
  • Stores daily examinations performed.
  • Ensures that all studies download correctly to GE server.
  • Technology – Embraces technological solutions to work processes and practices.
  • Able to utilize GE reading station including burning CD, downloading cases
  • Able to utilize Epic (Electronic medical records)
  • Able to utilize the electronic method of calling down inpatients in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Safety Awareness – Fosters a “Culture of Safety” through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.
  • Practices MD notification of "red values" as described in policy.
