The Cardiac Sonographer will perform echocardiogram tests to obtain important data about patients. Examine blood flow, valve function and chamber size to determine the overall condition of the heart. Assist physicians in the Cath lab and operating room. Ensure the delivery of world-class patient care by placing a strong emphasis on quality and education. Specialty areas include: Transthoracic echocardiography on state-of-the-art equipment. 3D imaging LVAD assessments. Complex scans on adult congenital, research trials and structural heart A caregiver in this position works PRN| Mon-Fri| 8:00am—4:30pm. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Set up and adjust all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams. Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures. Perform routine and complex studies and assist physicians in a variety of imaging procedures. Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sonography or vascular technology OR graduate of a cardiac ultrasound program (18-month program) OR two years of full-time echo experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • New hires must obtain the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers OR the Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential from Cardiac Credentialing International within one year of hire date
  • Demonstrated knowledge of m-mode, 2D and doppler calculations and cardiac hemodynamics
  • Familiar with computers and can learn related programs
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time; must lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to assist with transport of patients, i.e., pushing beds, stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Requires the ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
