About The Position
This part-time position for a Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiograms and stress echo procedures. The role involves recording quality imaging, explaining procedures to patients, reviewing clinical history, operating equipment, maintaining medical records, and organizing the reporting process. The position also includes performing portable echocardiograms and taking call, working weekends, and rotating holidays as needed. There are opportunities for career development within the Cardiac Sonographer I, II, III, IV levels, and the position is eligible for a sign-on bonus based on eligibility.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a cardiac ultrasound training program required.
- Completion of certification or registry in Echocardiography (RDCS) required within 1 year of employment.
- BLS required.

Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic echocardiograms and stress echo procedures as ordered by physicians.
- Records quality information while performing echocardiographic imaging and following procedural guidelines and protocols.
- Explains procedures and possible side effects to the patient or family members.
- Confirms all physician requests and evaluates patients' clinical history for proper clinical indicators and possible contraindications for procedure requested.
- Collaborates with physician to ensure quality patient care.
- Operates equipment used to perform echocardiograms.
- Maintains patient medical records.
- Organizes 3 stages involved in the reporting process: study completion, physician interpretation and final report.
- Submits final reports to appropriate nursing unit, physician office or medical records as requested.
- Performs portable diagnostic echocardiograms.
- Takes call, works weekends and rotates holidays as needed.
