About The Position

This part-time Cardiac Sonographer position is located at Atrium Health Pineville, within the Sanger Heart & Vascular department. The role involves performing diagnostic echocardiograms and stress echo procedures, recording quality imaging, explaining procedures to patients, and collaborating with physicians to ensure quality patient care. The position requires operating echocardiogram equipment, maintaining patient medical records, and organizing the reporting process. It also includes performing portable diagnostic echocardiograms and taking call, working weekends, and rotating holidays as needed. This role offers opportunities for career development and advancement within the Cardiac Sonographer I, II, III, IV levels and is eligible for a sign-on bonus based on eligibility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a cardiac ultrasound training program required.
  • Completion of certification or registry in Echocardiography (RDCS) required within 1 year of employment.
  • BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic echocardiograms and stress echo procedures as ordered by physicians.
  • Records quality information while performing echocardiographic imaging and following procedural guidelines and protocols.
  • Explains procedures and possible side effects to the patient or family members.
  • Confirms all physician requests and evaluates patients' clinical history for proper clinical indicators and possible contraindications for procedure requested.
  • Collaborates with physician to ensure quality patient care.
  • Operates equipment used to perform echocardiograms.
  • Maintains patient medical records.
  • Organizes 3 stages involved in the reporting process: study completion, physician interpretation and final report.
  • Submits final reports to appropriate nursing unit, physician office or medical records as requested.
  • Performs portable diagnostic echocardiograms.
  • Takes call, works weekends and rotates holidays as needed.
