About The Position

ChristianaCare is a nonprofit health system with a mission of service, focused on partnering with patients and their families to provide excellent, affordable, and valuable healthcare. They are looking for a Full-Time Cardiac Sonographer who will utilize the core values of Love & Excellence to provide the highest level of care to patients. The primary function of this role is to perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) procedures to aid in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease and to assist with the clinical training of students and Cardiology Fellows in the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Lab.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of a medical diagnostic ultrasound program or other allied health profession or possess equivalent training.
New graduates: Registry-eligible and must sit for registry and become RDCS/RCS within first year of employment or within first year of eligibility.
Pass the registry exam from either the ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS).
CPR certification.

Experienced in performing pediatric echocardiography.

Responsibilities

Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures.
Documents patient’s clinical history and technologist impressions of the images obtained on exam request forms.
Assists the cardiologist with obtaining images and equipment operation during transesophageal echocardiography.
Assists in the instruction of cardiac ultrasound students and Cardiology Fellows during their practice performance at Christiana Care.
Rotates on on-call schedule covering off hours and weekend rotation.
Performs pediatric echocardiography, if experienced.
Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed.
