About The Position

Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations. This role involves utilizing various imaging techniques such as two-dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m-mode, transesophageal, and exercise/pharmacologic echocardiograms. The position also includes performing saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients. Additionally, the Cardiac Sonographer will be responsible for instructing medical personnel on the technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology related to cardiac ultrasound. There is an opportunity to act as a mentor or preceptor for other ultrasonographers and students.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent.
• Graduate of Diagnostic Ultrasound program or equivalent.
• Minimal experience as gained at student level.
• Registered by American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registry eligible, paid at the trainee rate for up to 1 year.
• If unregistered must obtain at least one (ABD or OB/GYN) within 1 year from hire.
• Additional registry within two years from date of hire.
• If registered at hire, additional registry must be obtained within 1 year from hire.
• RDCS or CCI (no exemption accepted, must pass both parts of exam) status is required by department.
• CRT-Vascular Tech-ARDMS- within 1 year from hire for Vascular Department.
• Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers at hire through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations including two-dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m-mode, transesophageal, exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms.
• Conduct saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients.
• Instruct medical personnel in the technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology as it pertains to cardiac ultrasound.
• May act as a mentor/preceptor for other Ultrasonographers and/or students.
