About The Position

Under general supervision, produces images and/or diagnostic tests of designated anatomical areas as requested in order to provide the Radiologists /Cardiologist with diagnostic information. Responsibilities: Review procedure requisitions for appropriateness, document order completion in Hospital Information System. Document pertinent patient information according to department policies. Includes procedure specific forms and history assessment. Provide explanation of procedure, discharge information, and expectations of test completion and availability of results. Operate imaging equipment according to established procedures, (Ultrasound units and non-invasive physiologic units.) Prepare images for interpretation by completing required printing and post processing protocols for appropriate archive retention. Utilize appropriate immobilization and safety techniques to protect patients from safety risks. Meet the individual physical and mental needs of patients during procedures including comfort, privacy, confidentiality and timely communication. Perform equipment calibrations and quality control testing. Maintain work area and equipment by proper use, routine cleaning, and ensuring there are adequate supplies. Maintain skills and knowledge to provide care appropriate to the age and ability of each patient. Assist patients, family members, physicians, visitors, and employees in a friendly, cooperative manner. Follow infection control procedures at all times. Follow hospital policies for safety. Complies with specific department responsibilities during fire drills or alarms. Perform other related duties as assigned. Perform daily inspection of disinfection system in accordance with department policy. Responsible for prompt reporting of any malfunction of equipment to supervisors.

Requirements

  • Must be registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Echo and a registered RVT.
